KERRISDALE LITTLE LEAGUE VOLUNTEER POLICY
Kerrisdale Little League is a volunteer-run organization, without any paid staff, so we require each family to contribute a minimum number of hours of volunteer work for each child registered.
For each child registered in Blastball, T-Ball, or Mini-Minor, the minimum volunteer contribution is 2 hours of work.
For each child registered in Minor B, Minor A, or the Majors Divisions, the minimum volunteer contribution is 4 hours of work.
These League-level volunteer requirements are separate from, and in addition to, Team-level volunteer duties such as being a bench-parent, preparing the field, scorekeeping, etc.
A family may choose to opt-out of the League-level volunteer requirements by paying the volunteer opt-out fee (currently $200 per child) at the time of registration. The volunteer opt-out fee does not excuse a family from Team-level rotational parent game duties, which cannot be opted-out of.
Each family who has not paid the opt-out fee at the time of registration is required to submit to Kerrisdale Little League a post-dated Volunteer Deposit cheque in the amount equivalent to the opt-out fee (currently $200) per child registered. These cheques will be collected by Team Managers at the start of the season.
Once a family completes the minimum number of hours of volunteer work, the Volunteer Deposit cheque will be returned. If the minimum amount of volunteer work is not performed, Kerrisdale Little League will cash the deposit cheque. If a deposit cheque is not provided, and in the event that the minimum number of volunteer hours are not performed, Kerrisdale Little League reserves the right to charge the opt-out fee (currently $200) to the credit card number used for registration.
If the requirement to volunteer or pay the opt-out fee presents unusual and exceptional hardship to your family, please contact the KLL Volunteer Coordinator at email@example.com. Individual situations will be reviewed on a confidential, case-by-case basis.
